Students will have hands-on building experiences both at school and home. Families will be allowed to check out materials to help support our learning community. Using at least 3 Simple Machines building kits will provide materials for hands-on experiences to build, problem solve, and collaborate. Our first graders will learn about wheels and axles, pulleys, levers, wedges, and gears. Students will identify ways in which each of these is used in everyday life, as well as how these machines make work easier. Working together will help students increase their academic vocabulary,, social and emotional skills, and problem solving skills.
