In my classroom, my goal is to make kindergarteners well rounded socially, emotionally and academically. All students begin school with a variety of skills and abilities in each of these areas. It can be challenging to bridge the gap. To accomplish this, you need access to many resources. Students will use many of these items in a small group setting. They will work together academically, learn how to problem solve and process emotions when problems occur between their peers. Each of these resources has been carefully chosen to help all students be successful in the classroom, at home, and as a member of the school community. The phonemic awareness puzzles (RF.K.2a), rhyming sorting (RF.K.2a), scissors, magnetic boards (RF.K.3), fine motor activities (RF.K.3, W.K.1) and math games (K.CC.1, K.MDA.2) will all contribute to the students success in academics, as well as social development. The magnetic tiles (SS.K.1 and all SEL competencies), block builders (SS.K.1 and all SEL competencies), and Fill My Bucket book (all SEL competencies) with help students socially and emotionally. My students are showing growth in many of these areas but would become outstanding students with these extra resources.
