I have a great group of learners who show kindness, respect each other and our classroom, and ultimately work hard. In our classroom there are three simple rules; be kind, work hard, and play safe. I believe that all of these rules are important inside of the classroom, as well as outside of our four walls. Unlike many years in the past, this year is impacting our learning goals tremendously. With the impact of Covid and distance learning, our learners have taken a huge learning loss, which we are working to bridge this school year. The last time my students have been in a regular school year was the beginning of Kindergarten. The transition from Kinder to 2nd is extreme enough, but with the loss of learning, my students are experiencing the side effects. Everything in this project provides my students with hands-on materials that support learning and allows them to use manipulatives to grasp the knowledge that they have been missing through distance learning. Being at a low-income school, whatever I can provide for my students in the classroom, takes the stress off of parents at home. Ultimately I want to do everything I can to make sure I have the things necessary to bridge the learning gap, and help me students succeed.
