Geometry requires students to engage in a lot of tedious calculations in order to make connections between mathematical concepts. Using a calculator removes the busy work and gives students more time to focus on the deeper math concepts that matter. Using calculators also provides opportunities for students to check their work, and therefore promotes accuracy in students. It makes math more accessible to all students and ensures students do not fall behind due to mistakes in simple calculations. I am grateful for the Donors Choose community to help me get the tools I need to ensure my students have access to rigorous math lessons.
