Having a carpet for carpet time in my class will provide a more engaging environment for my students. When the class gathers on the carpet, the focus and concentration they give to the lesson is amazing. Being closer to the teacher, the board, and their classmates result in a much deeper connection and understanding of the lesson. Carpet time also allows for a stronger relationship to grow between the students and the teacher. It is a more relaxed environment in which the students feel more comfortable to open up and really express their thoughts and ideas. Movement is crucial throughout the day, especially in a second grade classroom. The transition from tables to the carpet is an easy way to incorporate movement into the students' day. Flexible seating is also a great way to incorporate movement into the day. Wobble chairs would enhance our classroom by providing a solution to get the wiggles out without having the student disrupt the class by standing up and walking around. These chairs, along with the carpet, can change the dynamic of my classroom and have such a great impact on my students.
