The following standards listed below emphasize the importance of these materials for my students. These activities help students be able to experience STEM both in and out of the class. By having more materials, I am able to create better videos for them to experience labs and send materials home when needed so students are still able to participate in real science.
These activities also allow for students to be able to conduct some hand on investigations as a break from our mostly digital world. More materials also allow me to be able to have students work on projects in small groups and for projects to still move forward. Scholastic news is a fabulous resource that both virtual and in person students can use to learn more about current events as well as make connections. This also ties into English and math skills which overlap into the science and social studies field.
