HS-LS4-3. Students will apply concepts of statistics and probability to support explanations that organisms with an advantageous heritable trait tend to increase in proportion to organisms lacking this trait. My students will explore the processes of natural selection that gave rise to the incredible biodiversity observed today. Investigating natural selection will better understand the processes by which new species evolve as well as how those processes can be observed in the rise of new forms of the COVID-19 virus. Evolution shows us that we are related to all other species; a deeper understanding of evolution helps us to appreciate - and inspires us to preserve - that biodiversity.
