Students need paper to learn math. I need it to provide notes and tests that they can write on. Having printed notes makes the learning process smoother and quicker. I do not have to pause the lesson while I wait for them to copy an image or a graph. Having part of the test done by hand allows me to access their work and better see where the gaps in learning are happening. Working on paper also enhances muscle memory. Research shows that writing something over and over helps the brain to memorize.
