We will use these materials in 3 second grade classrooms to motivate and engage our students. We will use literature (different fairy tales) to provide the hook and get students excited about designing a new and sturdy house for the 3 little pigs, creating a boat to float across the river to protect the 3 billy goats gruff from the troll under the bridge, create tye dye shirts and learn about the science behind it, and many more activities that will provide our students with opportunities to collaborate, problem solve, communicate, and create. We want to inspire our students to be inquisitive, share ideas (oral & written), and work together to solve problems. STEAM lessons will help students to be in charge of their learning while teaching them to collaborate and become innovative creators. These types of activities will also help us to create more individualized learning experiences for each of our students while giving all students the opportunity to be successful and reach their fullest potential.
