These materials will allow my students to develop their fine art skills. We will begin by learning the fundamentals in sketching and progress through a series of skills culminating in creating wood block prints. I will integrate the art lessons with 5th grade history to tie the two disciplines together. Students are lacking in fine art skills. Art instruction has been vanishing from school curriculums. Many students who would otherwise be able to express themselves through art are missing out on these experiences. I plan to bring art instruction back to my classroom.
