My students are part of a Title 1 school in the South Bronx. Title 1 designation is given to schools where the students' family income is below the poverty line. Jimmy Carter once said that "the South Bronx was one of the worst slums in America." My students strive to move away from this stereotype. My goal is to make sure that my students are college ready. My students enjoy working collaboratively on separate tasks that lend to a larger concept. My students are usually found working in groups on separate tasks/concepts based on their abilities with the goal of integrating these tasks/concepts to learn about a larger concept. The students have told me that they find this method truly worthwhile and that they learn more by working collaboratively. Please help me to keep this momentum going by providing my students with the materials that they need.
