Although my students are in the 5th and 6th grade, they are reading under a 4th grade level. Due to this, there are not a lot of reading resources available at our school for my students. Reading chapter books will not only strengthen my students' reading skills, but being able to read actual chapter books, like their peers, will help my students improve their self confidence in their academic abilities. In addition to chapter books, my classroom would also benefit from new picture books to our classroom library; these books are used in addition to Social Studies, as well as ELA lessons. These resources will help promote Nevada Academic Content Standards RL.10. and the picture books will also support SS.1.12, SS.3.17. These will fulfill a COVID-related learning need in my class because my students will be able to take these books home with them if we are sent into distance learning, again. As a special education teacher, my students are all working on various math skills; my class is currently working on everything from fractions and building money skills, to students that work on building with blocks and putting together puzzles to work on pattern building and visual/spatial skills. These resources will help promote Nevada Academic Content Standards K.G.B and 4.NF.A
