These books and the accompanying seating will help students develop their reading skills while also developing vocabulary. One of our biggest struggles in both state and district level testing has been in reading, specifically comprehension, and vocabulary as pertains to CCR.R.1 and CCR.L.6. These readiness standards, while the same across all grade levels for college and career readiness, are very important for middle school students to develop, and with the impact of COVID, students have not had access to any high-interest books that might encourage them to read more and more by having characters with which they identify.
