COVID-19 forced my students to miss out on many opportunities in school. Distance learning tried to salvage part of their school experience, but hands-on science experiments were not possible. During the hands-on science experiment, my students will be mixing various solutions to determine solubility, concentration, and chemical reactions. I already have goggles for my students to wear to protect their eyes. I would really like all of my students to be totally immersed in the science lab experience and would like to get lab coats for them. This will not only allow them to feel like areal scientists, it will also protect their clothes. It is true that my students would get the same learning experience without lab coats, but I am a true believer that feeling like a scientist (wearing lab coats and goggles) brings out more enjoyment and a deeper sense of being a scientist for my students during the experiment/s. My students are creative and full of questions regarding science! They enjoy hands-on, engaging projects. Some of the NGSS standards that will be covered are: PS1: How can one explain the structure, properties, and interactions of matter? And ETS1: How do engineers solve problems?
