The Nevada Academic Content Standard fulfilled by this project will be the Kindergarten - 5th Grade Science Standard, ETS1-1- Ask questions, make observations, and gather information about a situation people want to change to define a simple problem that can be solved through the development of a new or improved object or tool. One issue I have noticed with our elementary students during these COVID times, is the reluctance to collaborate, problem solve, and stretch their own thinking. Research shows how important it is to prepare students for embracing the challenges of the future; while also acknowledging and addressing the current challenges of daily life. These STEM kits and literature would not only help us promote growth in collaboration and real world problem solving this school year, but would be able to be used year after year to reinforce these skills.
