"Building Self Esteem Begins with a Small Block of Joy" is a project designed to provide opportunities for our children with unique challenges to feel confident about socializing with their peers while enhancing their fine motor, academic, cognitive, social, emotional and behavioral skills. We envision creating an enhanced, self confidence "Joy" Center in our room, where a huge "LEGO" table will become a centerpiece of activity, both for verbal and nonverbal students and their peers. Many activities will take place in this center including, mathematics and spatial awareness, creativity and expression, communication and language skills but most importantly with attractive, easy manipulative materials which enhance self confidence and lower anxiety and stress.
