During Covid, both teachers and students had to learn how to adapt and become effective from home utilizing different materials and resources. Not that we are back in the classroom, we need to put new scales in our student's hands! My building is an extension to a K-8, now through grade 11. Building the equipment that is necessary can be a daunting task. Giving our students access to hands-on experiences is key to learning and furthering our future scientists! I firmly believe that we can inspire students to move into science-based positions if they have positive and exciting experiences to draw on. Currently, we are utilizing NVACS and NGSS (HS-PS2-1, HS-PS2-2, and HS-PS3-1). Within both my Physics classes and GeoScience classes, we use scales to calculate the mass in order to accurately incorporate mathematical representations into models.
