Giving my students access to high-interest books will encourage their reading "for fun" and help to improve their overall literacy. Students will be allowed to check the books out from the classroom library, take them home to read, and bring them back to class to use for classroom assignments. As we study certain literacy skills, students will be able to use characters and scenarios in their own books to make meaning. Students are more likely to become life-long readers once they have found even ONE book that grabs them. All the books on this list are sure to grab at least one student and transform them into real readers.
