I am a first year teacher at a small rural charter school in Indiana. We opened our doors 7 years ago and have been growing just about every year. Due to the nature of this situation, we have several areas in need to technological development. One of these areas is in A/V and photography equipment. As a new teacher, I have developed a new announcement program that I film and edit myself in a "newscast" style on my cell phone. This has been a huge success for the students and in our community. I have received many questions about expanding this program in the future into a "Visual Communication" elective class that would teach the basic skills of photography, videography, audio, and editing. My dream is use as close to the "real deal" of these products as possible so that the students can take those skills into the real world and be familiar with the technologies used in the workplace and in art. The unfortunate reality is that these type of products are very expensive and we simply do not have room in our school's budget to expand these areas of technological gap. Luckily, tools of this quality are built to have sustained use for years to come. However, I believe that the generosity of donors on DonorsChoose will have understanding of the goals of this project as not a child's wish list of ridiculous wants, but rather a young teacher's dream to provide the tools to equip his students for success in life.
Our students deserve the very best tools for success in life that we can provide for them. Thank you for your consideration and generosity.
