For nearly 20 years, the students at our middle school and the community of North Las Vegas have been connected through the magical music of mariachi. With a 90% or higher Hispanic population, the mariachi program at our school is very popular among the students and the community. Many of our students come from Spanish-speaking homes where they grew up listening to the music of their parents and grandparents. This program has provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to honor and celebrate their rich cultural heritage through this beautiful music. We have had generations of brothers and sisters, cousins, sons and daughters learn the traditional favorites of their ancestors. Our school's mariachi program is an award-winning program that connects the school and community as one through community performances, fundraisers, concerts and events.
