Many of the Nevada Academic Content Standards focus on adding and subtracting using place value strategies. There are also many standards that focus on money as well as time in the second grade standards. Math 2.OA.1, 2.OA.2, 2.NBT.1, 2.MD.7, 2.MD.8 These manipulatives will allow students to explore and share their strategies with their classmates. Students will use the manipulatives to solve problems within the classroom. They will be able to share their strategies with their classmates by moving the manipulatives on the white board so that all students will be able to see the strategy being used. Many of my students learn from using hands on manipulative. Students were unable to use hands on manipulatives because of covid which caused many students to struggle last year.
