The woodworking materials (hammer, drill, wood, plane, wood sets and workbench) allow students to work with technology while engineering inventions and applying math and geometry concepts. The toaster oven will force-dry smaller pieces and further understand changes in states of matter. Building bird cages and traps encourage observation, caring for animals in nature and 21-century skills such as communication, collaborations, and real-world problem-solving. These practical life skills teach independence, self-regulation and sustainability. Students begin to understand the ways to reduce, reuse and recycle while creating projects. They become better environmental stewards by changing the current and future carbon foot print .
