The variety of materials listed on our project will help students explore the world around them and create a better world for us all to exist and thrive in. In Montessori pedagogy we believe that all humans and non human beings have a cosmic task, a task in which we have a role to play in the interdependence within and continuation of life within our universe. Everything is connected and related. The human's cosmic task is believed to be the creation of a sustainable world in which creation can continue and thrive. Children, with these materials, can continue to explore the universe around them through literature, models, and other materials. The Montessori pedagogy encompasses the whole child and thus all parts of the curriculum are equally important. Children can explore zoology, history, botany, astronomy, music, art, etc. through the materials provided by this project. The children, ages 6-9, will have access to a variety of reading levels and materials that peak their interest and tap into their imaginations, helping them to construct their inner selves, their view of the world and release their potential. Because each child's interest is so unique, I have requested a variety of materials and books in hopes of inspiring all 32 children in my classroom with diverse materials. This variety of materials sparks interests in reading and research, allowing each child to enhance their reading skills as they move through the 3 year journey within our classroom.
