These texts will serve two purposes. The non-fiction texts will be used to create text sets for my students' informational text unit. The fiction books will be used for guided reading. The usage of text sets and guided reading groups is research-based and widely used by literacy and ESOL teachers. The goal of this project is to develop my 4th and 5th graders' literacy skills and help them access grade-level content while working toward language development standards. These books will be organized into bins based on text genre and content area-not on reading level.
