My students are on IEPs with goals attached to increase speech and language skills in the general education environment. In the elementary setting, students are expected to speak clearly while using grammatically correct sentences. Additionally, they are expected to communicate with peers and adults about grade-level topics and to participate in group discussions. Many of my students struggle to be understood in the classroom due to either speech or language difficulties. Speech and language disorders may also impact social skills in the classroom. The materials I have chosen are for children who have autism, and children who are in general education but receive speech services.
