The art of podcasting is an authentic learning experience to create a project that combines English Language Arts skills with 21st Century Learning skills. Speaking and Listening Standards 6.1-6.6 are all utilized. Project-based learning gives excellent opportunity for 21st Century Skills such as Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Information/Technology/Media Literacy, and Productivity. Podcasting also integrates essential writing standards such as W.6.4 about producing clear and coherent writing. Students will have some choice in podcast topic which equates to a real opportunity to get their voice and experiences expressed which is an important goal to set for our students during these strange times.
