These materials will be used during our reading block to help enrich my students' vocabulary and language skills. Our lesson, Watercolor Word Wonders, will begin with the introduction to a new word and a discussion of what students think the word means. We will then proceed to a guided art lesson that will allow us to illustrate our new word. The goal for the lesson is for students to gain a clear understanding of what the word means in addition to being able to visualize, identify and use the word in real life situations. We were inspired by painting "dusk" during our vocabulary lesson. They were so excited and impressed with their projects that they didn't mind that we used almost all the paints in their little sets. In fact, they've asked every day when we will use our paints again for another "wonderful word". These supplies will give my class multiple opportunities to create and express their learning.
