My students want to take their news show to the next level. By purchasing a teleprompter, microphone, and lighting for our news show, students are getting a first-hand experience of how news shows are produced. They are learning that this is a skill they can use in a job setting. Some may even want to work at a news station or start a news show at the high school level. My students currently produce the news show for our middle school. This is a student-run show. They come up with the subjects, they type the scripts on google slides and they film it. We also have a stage crew that gets everything set up and ready to go on film days. We are planning to go to the local news station where we will get a first-hand look at how they produce the news. It would be great to come back and put that knowledge to use with new equipment.
