For the past two years, due to Covid 19, the College Board had canceled one component of the AP Studio Art Exam - mailing the physical artwork for the Selected Works section of the Advanced Placement Studio Art & Design Exam. This year students have the exciting opportunity to learn how to mat, prepare, and ship their artworks to the College Board experts for review. My students have worked tirelessly over the past years to create a body of 15 theme-related images in order to earn college credit while still in high school. With the funding of this mat board, my students will learn how to mat, present, curate, and prepare their work for AP evaluation. I have two classes of AP Students that are extremely excited to learn how to professionally mat their artwork for display as well as to earn college credit. VA:Pr4.HS.1 Analyze, select, and curate artifacts and/or artworks for portfolio, presentation, and preservation. My students must keep up with the latest advancements to spark an interest in visual arts. Society is changing, so are the interests of my students. Students in my classroom use their interests as inspiration for their AP artwork themes. They work as art activists to educate society, and promote social awareness and advocate for positive change through their artistic interests. The matted artworks will be on display in our school galleries for viewers to enjoy. The requested matboard would enable the hardworking AP Studio Art & Design students to mat their Advanced Placement selected works that will be submitted to the AP College Board for review, with the goal of earning college credit while still in high school.
