This project will address my students need to build academic and social emotional skills. The science and math materials I am requesting will support the following Nevada Academic Content Standards: K.G.B4, K.G.B5, K.G.B6, K.G. A1, K.G. A2, K.G. A3, K.PS3-2. These are a few examples of how we will use our supplies: building blocks will be used to build models representing animal and human habitats. They will also allow students to represent shade solutions for our upcoming Science project. Magna-Tiles will be used to support student knowledge and comparison of 2 and 3 dimensional shapes in our Geometry Unit.
Through the use of these objects students will improve their speaking and listening skills as they collaborate with their peers to solve standards related problems with their classmates. Standing tables will aide in these social emotional moments as they have a space to complete their work in an alternative seating arrangement. With students still recovering from the harmful effects of this Pandemic, these problem solving and social skills have never been more relevant. All of these items will not only aid students academically, but will greatly improve their social skills.
