Children strive in a structured environment. They learn best when they understand routines and procedures. Our classroom is organized in centers where we have a kitchen area, art center, library, building area, and carpet time. As they are growing into authors, the students have requested a writing center. In looking around the classroom, I realized that we are missing a designated writing center where students can work. With a writing center, students will be more engaged in the writing process. This will support their routines and procedures in the classroom and they will be encouraged to write more.
