Several of the resources that I have selected would support my Strategy Games elective class. In this class we will analyze different strategies and techniques in order to compete in card games, board games, and classic games (chess and checkers). We will also use the knowledge and skills learned in core subjects to engage in trivia competitions, escape room-style games on Breakout EDU.com, and with interactive "breakout boxes." We will learn to work together strategically and cooperatively and to compete respectfully. We will use the Standards for Mathematical Practice as we solve problems. (MP.1, MP.2, MP.3). BreakoutEDU.com offers games aligned with the standards so that we can focus on relevant content. Distance learning and social distancing have left students lacking in critical relationship skills. This class will promote essential SEL competencies adopted by our school district, such as, relationship skills (communication, relationship building, teamwork), self-awareness (building self-confidence, recognizing strengths, self efficacy), and responsible decision making (analyzing solutions, solving problems, evaluating, reflecting). The Elmo projector would be used in both my elective and math classes to facilitate instruction. The headphones could be used by all of my students as needed to access online materials in class, such as, Dreambox. The bookshelf is helpful to organize materials. The locks, batteries, and blacklight flashlights are to supplement the materials that came with BreakoutEDU.com's physical breakout boxes. In my math classes, dry erase markers, white boards, and scissors will assist us as we focus on all of the NVACS for Math 7 and Math 8.
