Reading Plus is a computer program that allows students to improve reading fluency which will in turn help with reading comprehension. In my classroom I do not have enough devices for each student to accomplish their daily work tasks in Reading Plus. I am in need of additional Chromebooks so that all of my students are able to work on their Reading Fluency daily while in my class. Each donation, large or small, makes an important difference in our attempt to make learning engaging and fun by offering online opportunities. The Chromebooks I am requesting for our classroom will also be used to offer extended learning opportunities to my students. They have a shown a commitment to taking advantage of online learning experiences and work very hard with existing technology to access programs that will improve their reading and math skills. Our Chromebook request will allow me the ability to have every student working on a device while in my class. Each donation in an investment in the educational career of a young student who may not have access to engaging online learning experiences outside of their school experience. As adults we can look back at our educational experiences and clearly remember which teachers and which classrooms made a positive impact on our lives. This project will help make my classroom a memorable place for our students that will not only help them with their reading skills but will engage them as lifelong learners! Developing fluency skills can be fun when brought together with online experiences. When students look back at their reading experiences, we want them to remember reading as being fun and exciting, which launches them into lifelong pursuits of learning reading.
