With a strong green movement in our society today, I want to give my students in the Coking Club the opportunity to see what Farm to Table means and how their actions can impact the world around them. This mixing machine will allow us to take scraps from our cooking labs and instead of throwing them in the trash (therefore contributing to green house gasses) recycle them into nutrient rich mulch and soil enhancers. This will help my students learn about Horticulture in class and grow vegetables for the Cooking clubs. Truly closing the loop and helping our students understand the true meaning of Farm to Table. This Vitamix blender/mixers will upgrade the broken supplies we currently have so that students will have the best and safest experience in my kitchens as they learn! They will use them for basic kitchen skills like making salsa to experimenting with new healthy recipes from around the globe. My food science students will use these tools as they learn different food chemical reactions in the kitchen. The possibilities are endless when the newest and best tools are placed into the hands of these young home cooks as they discover their passion for food! The basic school supplies (gel pens and dry erase markers) will be used by my students in my cooking club. Students will be excited to use new dry erase markers to jot down recipe ingredients together on their whiteboards. They will also use the gel pens to write down recipes in their personal cookbooks. Please help my students to 'Mix it, Mix it Real Good' in our school kitchen for healthy living!
