Our students are conducting environmental and behavioral studies using the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster. These studies are very comprehensive and involve a lot of background research. Fruit flies are excellent living models as they give students a chance to study behavioral biology, reproductive biology, genetics, and more. Their life cycle is quick so you can complete generational studies in a very short amount of time. The students working on these projects will gain a true understanding of the complexities in animal studies and so many of the variables addressed. Chemistry students will be able to investigate the relationships between temperature, pressure, and volume by modeling fun science experiences and using mathematics!
