If you ask any of my students if they like school, they will most likely reply that they like seeing their friends, but they do not like math or reading. For students who learn in unique ways, school can be a really scary place. For most of their education, they have fallen behind and faced problems with self-confidence and fitting in with peers. I preach to my students that different does not mean less than, so different learning styles should be celebrated, not altered. This project will provide my students with a classroom environment fit their specific needs. They each learn in a different way and need different resources to supplement the amazing learning that takes place in the general education curriculum. Fourth Grade Math and ELA classes are tough, but given the right tools to succeed, these learners are capable of amazing things. Flexible seating options will give my students a chance to move and have a more relaxed environment for learning. The resources will help me build learning centers to target their individual goals. The classroom rug, tables, and seat cushions will be used to provide flexible seating options for learning. The comprehension partner scripts and quickie cards will be used in reading literacy centers to allow students to work with pairs or in small groups. The headphones, multiplication game, and multiplication cards will be used in math learning centers to reinforce foundational skills. The gift card to Teacher's Pay Teachers will give me access to more learning centers created by teachers for teachers.
