This will help me fulfill all Nevada Academic Content Standards for English, math, science, social studies, and health. I work at a school for adjudicated youth. I am the credit recovery teacher, which means I offer every class needed to graduate. The biggest advantage to having a laptop has to do with remote learning. Twice during Covid 19 quarantines, I have been denied access to my students entirely. Students have had to do work without any help from teachers. The laptop will allow me to work with students from a separate room through Zoom and my classroom TV. After Covid is over, the laptop will continue to be used. My students work through an online curriculum called Odysseyware, and they are allowed to use a Chromebook. Everything is blocked except Odysseyware and that cannot change. The problem is, there are many linked resources the students cannot get to when they are doing projects. A laptop would allow me to download resources to the hard drive and allow students to use those resources while I supervise. Also, whenever I help students, I have to have them come up to my desk because I have to access Odysseyware using the teacher account. This wastes time and causes additional issues with classroom management. I could use the laptop to go to the students’ desks and help them there.
