As students adjust to being back in the classroom full time, we have discovered their endurance for sitting still for long periods of time has diminished greatly. Providing a variety of seating options will give them the opportunity to listen to stories comfortably so they can focus on learning. A diverse library will help fulfill all the reading standards (RL.4 1-10) in a variety of ways. We can use these books for book studies to discuss details, structure, themes, characters, settings, details, etc. Having grade level books throughout the class library will ensure students have access to an assortment of appropriately complex books. If we go back to a virtual setting, these books can still be used as class read aloud book studies during synchronous learning time.
