In kindergarten we use a lot of creativity to allow students to learn how to monitor their behavior and learning. This helps us, teachers, manage our class in a fun and interactive way which is why I will be introducing classroom pets and will continue to incorporate flexible seating. The animal erasers will be their pets and the food ones will be the pets food. The containers will be their home. I use class dojo to monitor behavior so once they reach a certain amount of points they will be winning the home and as they increase their points they'll be able to decorate the home, get a pet, feed it, etc. I am also very excited to continue to add flexible seating in my classroom. I believe it is necessary for my students to be successful.
A lot of my students need to fidget to be able to focus therefore flexible seating is something I am emphasizing in my class. I have already introduced small accommodations like stuffed animals, pop its, and cushions at carpet, but I would like my students to be able to have flexible seating in their centers and individual seats. This way, once they are familiar with the options I have for them, then they will be able to choose a seat that helps them be more focused when learning. I want them to be responsible enough to make these choices for themselves. I am so excited to see the impact this will have in my classroom.
