One of the best ways to become a better reader and writer, as well as develop understanding, compassion, and empathy, is to read more! To this end, I encourage my students to find books they enjoy and read independently both in class and at home. This project will help me create a classroom library for my students by providing books and storage for these books in my classroom, and students will be allowed to borrow books from the class to take home and read as well. Each of the books in this project was chosen with my students' unique interests and tastes in reading in mind to ensure all my students can find a book they enjoy from my library. Every student deserves access to engaging reading material, and my classroom library will provide students with a variety of books to engage them with reading! Through reading these books, my students will improve their literacy skills, which will help them become better readers, writers, and critical thinkers. They will also be able to engage with diverse stories and perspectives, increasing their empathy and understanding of diverse experiences. Ultimately, this project will help my students develop many skills that will help them be successful in the future and encourage a life-long love of reading.
