My students love to read. They get to "shop" for books to fill their book baskets with each week from our classroom library for independent reading. I like to have a variety of books for students to choose from to give them ownership of their reading. When they have an interest in what they are reading they will invest more of themselves into being successful readers. My students will grow leaps and bounds in their reading throughout the year with a variety of books to choose from. Some of the kids begin by telling the story by looking at the pictures, others will decode and analyze the literature. For my students, I hope to provide them with an array of books that will encourage them to become great readers and instill a love for reading.
