Special Education students are often working on increasing their reading levels for much of their elementary school years. The books at their level can become monotonous since they need to read them repeatedly for fluency. Additionally, many of the lower level texts available are black line photocopy versions, which are not very enticing to little kids. My students would love to read these colorful, engaging books that are written at their level. They will be enticed by their content. The humor and storylines will help them feel excited about reading even though their level is much lower than their peers.
