These resources will promote learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.
Our 3rd-5th Grade students love to learn within a group and with hands on projects that connect to the world they see around them. How? The big question they ask when they see their world becomes their next idea. Students will conduct experiments with their projects and collaborate using Technology: Power Point, blog, email, etc. Through hands on development of designs they will get to perform just as real world engineers using their Math skills to improve upon their designs. The best part is they actually will get to work with their peers which was the worst part of COVID: "I miss other kids."
This project addresses: Science Standards 3-5-ETS1-1 Define a simple design problem reflecting a need or a want that includes specified criteria for success and constraints on materials, time, or cost. 3-5-ETS1-2 Generate and compare multiple possible solutions to a problem based on how well each is likely to meet the criteria and constraints of the problem. 3-5-ETS1-3 Plan and carry out fair tests in which variables are controlled and failure points are considered to identify aspects of a model or prototype that can be improved.
Once completed students will create Visual Art to present.
VA:Cr1.1.3a Elaborate on an imaginative idea.
VA:Cr1.1.4a Brainstorm multiple approaches to a creative art or design problem.
VA:Cr1.1.5a Combine ideas to generate an innovative idea for art-making
