The use of notebooks will encourage students to write when they have any time in school. We need more pencils so each child can have more than one at their desk. Needing to switch out and sharpen pencils throughout the day slows down the flow of learning. The students need practice writing narratives, summaries, and research projects (W1.1, W1.2). They will have the opportunity to work on these standards by writing in their notebooks with their new pencils and spelling words with their tiles. Word building tiles will allow students to spell words and practice new phonics patterns as they learn them in class. Right now, students still need support with spelling smaller words. Teachers Pay Teachers is an incredible resource full of engaging work for students. Gift cards will go far in helping us obtain these materials.
