The goal of the classroom library is to engage the students with books at their current reading level and beyond. While our reading curriculum is used to build 5th-grade reading skills, it does not engage a student's interests the way an appropriately leveled text can. Also, a library offers the choice to each child that is not available in a textbook. Finding a book that appears to be interesting from both the front and back covers, draws a student's mind in and provides a new journey or adventure for them to experience without the constraints of learning standards.
