These books will provide opportunities for students to discuss themes, characters, and events using diverse text. All of these books alight with Nevada Academic Content Standards. Diverse books give students the ability to have rich discussions about characters, events, and themes within meaningful text. They specifically relate to RL.5.2 as students are determining theme (life lesson) of a story. For the standard RL.5.6 students describe how a narrator's point of view influences how events are described. Finally, RI.5.3 has students explain the relationships or interactions between two or more individuals, events, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text.
