It's hard for students to be back in rigid chairs and desks after a chaotic year plus of virtual learning. Classroom learning doesn't have to look like it did a hundred years ago. Getting flexible seating for my classroom will allow my students to choose places to sit and engage that feel more comfortable and authentic to them. I am also requesting posters to liven up my room with bright and colorful grammar rules, and well as books to be used in reading and writing instruction. Flexible seating will improve engagement and performance in all subjects, while the ELA materials will improve performance specifically in all writing standards (ELA-LITERACY.W.4.1 through ELA-LITERACY.W.4.10), as all reading standards (ELA-LITERACY.RL.4.1 through ELA-LITERACY.RL.4.1, and ELA-LITERACY.RI.4.1 through ELA-LITERACY.RI.4.1).
