These speech to text readers will make a world of difference for these two students. By removing their barrier to reading, these students will require less assistance from the teacher, be more confident in their understanding, and not feel left out during individual reading time. These students can feel insecure when their lack of reading ability is illustrated, so having a tool they can use to interact and engage with text will boost their self-esteem. Students will use the e-pens during all parts of the school day. For example, in math, these students will use the pens to read word problems. In reading, students will use these to decipher texts and hear stories. Students will get practice tracking the words and sentences in a book when they use the pen. In health, science, and intervention time, students will use these tools to help them read and understand the texts we are examining.
