The materials I'm requesting will help create an environment in which students may actually relax and find some peace. We practice yoga and mediation daily, but the fluorescent lights and background noise of a school make complete relaxation a challenge. These items can help students truly disconnect from the chaos of daily life by entering into a zone primed for peace and serenity. The Bose SoundLink II will be used daily for guided meditations or calming music. The lighting will serve as an alternative to the traditional classroom lighting which has been proven to have ill health effects - both mental and physical. The aromatherapy will provide a calming effect as well and provide an instant signal to each student's brain that they are now in a place of safety and peace. For the few moments they will be in class that day, they can let go. And finally the coloring supplies will offer an opportunity for meditation through movement and art so students can express themselves freely in safe, healthy ways.
