Students will learn all about legends in Spanish speaking countries. Last year my students learned about La Llorona a popular legend in Mexico. This year our focus is Venezuela and Colombia and students are excited to learn and read about El Silbón. This unit will teach students to be aware of other cultures and beliefs but also to be culturally responsive. They will have the opportunity to use this novel at home. Last year students read La Llorona de Mazatlan, this year they are ready to move on to something different.
